La web del periódico gratuito Metro en EE.UU. ha publicado una curiosa «noticia»: «Si quieres mostrar tu solidaridad con Barcelona, usa estas banderas, no la bandera española». «Estas banderas» son la senyera y la cubana. Como ve, no es una noticia, sino propaganda ideológica.
El artículo es obra de Kimberly Aquilina, con contactos en la ANC en EE.UU., que le ha proporcionado esta alucinante lista de mentiras sobre la historia de Cataluña:
«Tras el ataque del jueves, la bandera de España o sus colores se han usado en edificios gubernamentales y en las redes sociales como muestra de solidaridad, pero Barcelona prefiere otra cosa (…) [Cataluña es] una región independiente de la Península Ibérica con sus propias tradiciones, lenguaje y leyes, que resistió a la implementación del dominio español hasta 1938, cuando Francisco Franco tomó control de la región (…) Cuando España recuperó la democracia en 1977, concedió a la región el grado de autonomía, aunque el Tribunal Constitucional de Madrid determinó que Cataluña no debía ser independiente”.
Evidentemente la ANC de USA (o sea, Liz Castro desde Barcelona) aplaude de alegría porque alguien se ha tragado sus trolas, y divulga el pastiche ideológico rodeada de corazoncitos. Liz Castro empezó a divulgar propaganda nacionalista a costa de la sangre de las Ramblas horas después de la masacre:

After being under the Carolingian Influence, The count of Barcelona got married with the Aragon kingdom Princess Petronila (the Barcelona count Ramon Berenguer never had the ‘prince’ tittle and honors, only their son and descendants had the king tittle rights and honors) and then, the county of Barcelona was integrated into the Crown of Aragon.

Later on, under the kingdom of Charles the third (eighteength century) the actual Spanish flag was designed (initially for thr merchant Navy and later for the whole country) and the chosen colors (surprise, once again!) were those from Aragon, red and yellow.
Today, Catalonia is not the exclusive owner of the four-bar flag, as it is shared (with some local variants such the different costs of arms) by all the present day regions that once belonged to the Aragon Crown: Aragon, Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia and the Ballearic islands. All of them were kingdoms of their own in one or another moment of History… except Catalonia which was an amalgamation of counties, but never a kingdom.
On the other hand, the single star independentist Catalonian flag was not born of pride such the historical one, but from a hate. Françesc Macià, a former soldier, designed it in the 1920s to be like the Cuban flag, as he admired the Cubans who had been then reciently emancipated from Spain (1898). This flag was chosen by the independentists who believe in a Catalonian supremacism over the rest of Spaniards and which even ran their own version of the brown shirts in the 1930s, known as ‘escamots’. The present day independentists rally under this banner (they intimately despise the official non-starred Catalonian flag), they think that they deserve to be independent just because they are better than the rest and they are continually defying the law. So, to explain this in a simple way that any American citizen could understand, the starred Catalonian flag represents Catalonia as much as the Confederate Flag represents the Southern states.

Comienzo diciendo que como español de fuera de Cataluña estoy tan dolido como cualquier buen catalán y agradezco que se nos apoye mostrando la bandera española.
La parte central es un poco rollazo, lo admito. En pocas palabras, cuento el origen de la bandera catalana desde la dudosa leyenda que la atribuye a Vifredo el Velloso hasta como sus colores son los escogidos por Carlos III para diseñar la actual bandera española. Y como Macià se inventa la cubana como fruto de su odio.
Y termino comparando a la cubana con la bandera confederada, que eso sí lo entienden los estadounidenses. (Y a los forcos con el Ku Klux Klan, ya de paso).
Una aclaración la enseña de los reyes aragoneses no data de Wifredo el Velloso sino del s.XII, es una leyenda absurda y además en tiempos de tal conde no existía la Heráldica.

You better check the facts about this fascist-like independency movement that place themselves about the Constitution and the Law, marginate the official language of the country and because of the politics, reluctantly let the federal police investigate the first explosion in a house, when they were making explosives. They also ignore the warnings of the federal government about protecting pedestrian streets with physical barriers, because the politics ‘feel different’ here you go, one US citizen is death in that street because of that. A mi, la buena señora me ha bloqueado después de sentirse ultrajada porque simplemente le decía que o bien demostraba una supina ignorancia de la historia de mi país (la barbaridad de la guerra civil y lo demás), así que debía leer, o bien falseaba conscientemente la realidad. En ese caso, le decía que algo le correspondía, porque ya sabemos que si algo tienen los de ANC es subvenciones. Bueno, he vivido en EEUU y Australia y me he encontrado en alguna ocasión con este tipo de gente. Curiosamente, se creen esas patrañas y no hacen ningún esfuerzo por aprender o estudiar. Los manteros normalmente están en las Ramblas pero el día del atentado me informan de que no habían que no se les vieron por la zona . Si puede ser casualidad y sabían algo .
Desde hace tiempo no suelen haberlos en las Ramblas…otras calles cercanas alguno puede verse…pero tarde,cuando cierran muchos negocios.
